godwin > Here we are with our wonderful hosts in front of the Eiffel Tower. Each evening beginning at 7 pm, the Eiffel Tower is lit up with thousands of twinkle lights for 10 minutes. At 292,000 watts, I suppose twinkle is an understatement!
When the Eiffel Tower appeared in 1889, it was the world's tallest building until New York's Empire State Bldg. topped it in 1931. The Eiffel Tower stands 1050 ft. high and is so solidly built that it never sways more than 2.5 inches in strong winds.
godwin > Frog's eye view of the tower...complete with twinkles!
godwin > It looks delicate, but the Eiffel Tower weighs 10,100 metric tons. The complex pattern of girders are held together with 2.5
million rivets.

Couldn't resist taking a bird's eye view!

The wind was blowing hard and cold!
But just look at the view behind us!

Paris is safety minded also...no, we are not in a cage.
